"Tropical Garden"

There were a few obstacles on the way to creating this eye-catching powder room. First, the earthenware bowl the owner wanted for the sink had to be carefully outfitted with a drainage system. Then builder Charlie Garrett routed grooves into the bottom of the coral stone counter to hide the metal rods it needed for stability. Finally, a hole was machined into the middle of the porous stone for the sink, which was bonded to it with epoxy. The supports for the counter are plaster griffins, mythological symbols of strength and vigilance, which seems appropriate since those virtues were needed by Garrett and his staff to fashion this pretty, little room.
